Why use a joint supplement?

Joint supplements have been shown to have beneficial effects in dogs that were suffering from lameness due to arthritis. Ultimate Joint Health can also be used safely in sizes and breeds of dogs. Glucosamine – Which is an important component of healthy cartilage which lines joints and is a protective coating of the bones in the joints.

Chondroitin – is a dietary supplement and a vital part of cartilage. Studies have found that taking chondroitin can prevent cartilage breaking down and can also stimulate its repair mechanisms. *

MSM – is rich in organic sulphur, an important ‘building block’ for healthy bones and joints, and it’s very useful for your immune system. Available evidence from short-term RCTs shows that MSM may have a moderate effect in improving joint pain and swelling as well as general functional wellbeing in people with osteoarthritis. In one trial this effect was greater when MSM was combined with glucosamine.*

Green Lipped Mussel (GLM)- From the Perna canaliculus from New Zealand contains omega 3 fatty acids. In people with osteoarthritis, GLM may be of benefit when used with Paracetamol and non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs.

Fish oils – are rich in omega-3 essential fatty acids (EPA/DHA) which have strong anti-inflammatory properties. Fish liver oil is also a rich source of vitamin A (a strong antioxidant) and Vitamin D (which is important for maintaining healthy joints).

Boswellia – Also known as Frankincense comes from the Boswellia Serrata tree. For centuries this has been used for its anti inflammatory properties.

Tumeric – People with knee osteoarthritis who took part in a research trial (2009) reported improvements to their pain levels after taking turmeric.
